Richard Thomas Hughes passed away September 12, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at age 76, after a strong fight against cancer. He was born to George and Florence (Lang) Hughes June 21, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Richard served under the direction of the U.S. Army from September 1958 to August 1960. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he married his beloved bride, Anne-Kathryn Zinke, Feb. 2, 1963. He worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint, Mich., as a forklift operator. Richard and Anne-Kathryn made Lake Havasu their home in 1991 from Flushing, Mich. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church and past member of the Elks Lodge No. 2399. Richard loved to read, play dominoes, shoot pool, play darts and play cards.
Richard is survived by and missed dearly by his wife of 48 years, Anne-Kathryn Hughes, of Lake Havasu; sons, Eric J. Hughes, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Jason R. Hughes and his wife, Becki, of El Cajon, Calif., and Phillip C. Hughes, of Houston; four daughters, Lisa M. Hughes, of Flint, Mich., Lois Anne Tucker and her husband, Ken, of Macomb, Mich., Lara R. Hutton and her husband, Ray, of Macomb, Mich., and Autumn L. Hughes, of Phoenix; one sister, Mary Anne Sabo, of Lake Havasu City; stepmother, Verna Hughes, of Phoenix; and 10 grandchildren, Shane, Tiffany, Spencer, K.T., Mia, Carleigh, Joshua, Jack, Jackson and Madelyn.

He is much loved and will always be remembered by all his friends and family.
